About Us
Our Mission.
To improve and enhance the quality of life for citizens of Ross County by effectively matching community resources with community needs.
Our Vision.
We will improve lives and build a stronger community. We will do this by focusing on the underlying causes of our most serious problems and identifying solutions and goals to achieve lasting changes – right here in Ross County. We will engage others to join us because it takes the whole community working together to reach these goals. Sometimes we will lead, sometimes we will support. Always, we will listen. Because that’s what matters.
Community Matters.
98% of your gift stays in Ross County. Less than 2% is paid to Ohio United Way and United Way of America for services and benefits, including national advertising and awareness campaigns, such as the NFL partnership and “Born Learning”; marketing support; training and development; public policy advocacy.
82% of your gift funds programs provided by 18 local agencies. The remaining 18% covers United Way office, program, and campaign costs. We work all year to ensure our donors’ dollars are invested in community programs and initiatives that create lasting changes in peoples’ lives and our community.
United Way of Ross County is independent - NOT a "chapter" of United Way of America. We are governed and served by local boards and committees who determine how and where your contributions are invested.
Results Matter.
Your United Way contribution is an investment in your community. Agencies and programs are funded only if they meet requirements that ensure accountability and goal-oriented achievements. Measuring the results – right here in Ross County – is important!
Partnership Matters.
We engage schools, government, non-profit, civic and faith-based organizations in efforts that focus on critical issues. Together, we get results that no one can accomplish alone.
Volunteers Matter.
Your Community Investment dollars are stretched further by the efforts of Local Volunteers who contribute their professional skills, talents, and valuable time to:
- Evaluate agency budgets, operations, programs and funding proposals.
- Recommend community investment strategies and policies.
- Create local marketing, advertising, promotions and events.
- Conduct the annual Community Campaign, raising more than $760,000 in each of the past two years.
