Celebrity Basketball, Tailgate Football to raise funds for United Way

Community invited to support fun sports events.

Chillicothe, OH (November 13, 2009)

Sports fans, couch potatoes, and folks just looking for fun are sure to enjoy two upcoming events organized by United Way of Ross County campaign volunteers:

“LIVE UNITED – Play United!” – Thursday, November 19, 6 pm., at Bishop Flaget School. Celebrity Basketball featuring “Chillicothe Police & Firefighters” vs. “Team United Way”.

Fun, family entertainment with free activities, giveaways, 3-point shoot-out with prizes, free youth photo IDs, fire prevention activities, concessions and more; tickets at the door, $5 adults; $3, students.

Food & Football the UNITED WAY – Sunday, November 22, noon to 5 pm, at the Petland Business Improvement Center, 250 Riverside St. (Hickory Street Entrance). NY Giants vs. Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns vs. Detroit Lions – with big-screen TVs, comfy lounging, great food, adult beverages, and door prizes; tickets at the door, $15 each or $25 pair, include food, two drink tickets, door prizes. Special attraction – Tailgate menu with cooking demonstrations by Chef Sean Immell.

Organizers are Tamra Lowe and Dallas Love, representing the Public Service Division, and Misty Tuttle and Emily Young, representing the Community Division of this year’s United Way Campaign. The new fundraising events will benefit the annual campaign that supports a variety of education, health, safety, senior nutrition, basic and crisis needs, and youth mentoring, leadership and character development programs provided by 17 local partner agencies.
