Chillicothe, OH (October 11, 2007)More than 70 volunteers will pitch in this week and next to complete projects that will brighten the appearance, indoors and out, of the YMCA of Ross County.
“Day of Caring” volunteers will work in two shifts on Thursday, October 18, tackling several projects that involve painting the gym and long hallway, cleaning the weight room and gymnastic area, washing windows throughout the building, and mowing, mulching and planting mums outside the building.
“As we launch the annual United Way fundraising campaign, we also want to highlight the importance of donating time, talent and labor to help the agencies that provide so many valuable programs for our community,” says Bob Gallagher, Community Campaign chairman.
Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center is leading the initiative with 35 students and six staff members working Thursday on the various projects. Landscape students will perform the outdoor chores and students in the food service program will provide lunch for the volunteers. Other volunteers are employed by Ross County Job & Family Services, the Chillicothe Gazette, Glatfelter, Alcoa, UPS, Sprint Store, Globe Furniture, Kroger Pharmacy, Telepage, and Kim Di Frango, gemologist. Next week, Chillicothe High School art students will add decorative artwork to the newly painted walls.
