Chillicothe, OH (October 9, 2007) As the weather cools and the holidays approach, local agencies are working to meet the needs of many families who struggle with basic needs such as warm clothing and nourishing meals.
Area residents can help keep folks warm this winter and brighten their holidays with donations this weekend to the “Second Saturday” Community Collection, sponsored by United Way of Ross County and its community partner “James 218.”

30 East Main Street (parking lot beside Horizon buildings)
Agencies seeking donations to assist homeless, needy, and special needs individuals and families:
Salvation Army: Warm clothing for children and adults, especially coats, hats, scarves, gloves and mittens; non-perishable foods, especially items for family holiday meals.
Emergency Shelter for Homeless Men: Paper products, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid.
Child Protection Center: New or gently used large toys and play sets (toy kitchen, table/chairs)
Big Brothers/Big Sisters: New or gently used winter coats for children; holiday wrapping paper.
Goodwill Industries: Gently used clothing, household items, toys, small appliances and furniture.
The “Second Saturday” Community Collection is a monthly outreach, co-sponsored by United Way of Ross County and James 218, a ministry of Trinity United Methodist Church, that seeks donations to meet both special and routine needs of local service agencies and their clients.
