CHILLICOTHE, OHIO--The United Way of Ross County begins FREE tax prepartion for Ross County residents making $54,000 or less annually on January 22, 2019. Residents can set an appointment to have their taxes prepared between January 22- April 15, 2019 by IRS Certified VITA (Volunteer Income Tas Assistance) Volunteers by calling 740/779-2274.
Appointment times are scheduled between 10AM -7PM, Monday-Friday. Additionally, each Saturday, ( February 2- 23, 2019 & March 2-9, 2019), are 'Super Saturdays' where residents can have their taxes prepared on a first come basis at the United Way of Ross County Office at 69 East Water Street from 10AM-3PM. On 'Super Saturdays', up to 8 VITA volunbteers are avaialble to prepare taxes for residents seeking assistance. Scheduled appointments and some 'drop in' appointment times are also avaialble on weekends with our partner site location at Wood Forest Bank.
Specialized volunteer preparers have certifications ranging from Basic Tax Prepartion to advanced certifications for Military Income, Self Employement Income and Health Care Savings Accounts.
Residents should bring the following information and documents with them for their appointment: photo ID, last year's tax return (if available), Social Security card for person filing & all dependents, W-2 wage earnings fron any and all employment, 1099 tax forms from retirement, disability, social security, interest dividend from stock and bonds, and Form 1095 from Affordable Care Act Insurance.
The 2019 VITA program volunteer community partners include: Wood Forest Bank, Southeastern Ohio Legal Services, Ross County Community Action, Military Veterans Resource Center, and Ohio University- Chillicothe.
