SNAP Recipients Benefits Delivered Early Due to U.S. Government Shutdown

CHILLICOTHE,OHIO--- Due to the U.S. partial government shutdown, February SNAP benefits are to be added to EBT cards by January 20, 2019.  These benefits are intended for use February.  SNAP participants will not receive additional benefits for the month of February.

These SNAP benefits may be the last provided until the government reopens. For more information about SNAP, contact Ohio Department of Job and Family Services at 740/773-2651. 

 

2018 Free Tax Preparation Program Begins for Ross County Residents

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO--The United Way of Ross County begins FREE tax prepartion for Ross County residents making $54,000 or less annually on January 22, 2019.  Residents can set an appointment to have their taxes prepared between January 22- April 15, 2019 by IRS Certified VITA (Volunteer Income Tas Assistance) Volunteers by calling 740/779-2274.

United Way of Ross County Announces Community Grant Application Deadline for 2018

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-July 31, 2017:   In continuing its mission to mobilize resources to improve lives and strengthen our community, United Way of Ross County opens its 2018 annual grant application process on August 5, 2017.   Eligible, local 501(c) (3) non-profit organizations may request funding for specific programs that improve lives and have goals with measurable outcomes in the targeted impact areas of education, financial stability/mobility, health and safety net services.

Day of Caring 2017

Day of Caring is an annual community project day coordinated by the United Way of Ross County each year.  On Friday, April 21, between 8AM-3PM, community members, corporate volunteers, students, churches and other organizations come together as volunteers to help improve and beautify our community by giving a day of service where it is needed most. 

Volunteers register and are then assigned locations throughout the Ross County area to help with services like painting, landscaping, general clean up and other duties to aid organizations and individuals in our community.

10th Year of Free Tax Filing Assistance Begins on January 23rd

The Ross County CASH Coalition, a partnership with the United Way of Ross County, Southeastern Ohio Legal Services, Ross County Community Action, Ohio University-Chillicothe, IRS/Volunteer Tax Assistance Program, launches the 10th year of FREE tax filing assistance to wage earners with annual household income up to $54,000.00.  Last year the Coalition helped 1200 Ross County Taxpayers obtain $1.7 million in tax refunds.
