Helping Ross County Schools support students through Summer Programming
United for Student Success is a United Way of Ross County initiative designed to improve student learning and retention, so every child has a strong foundation.
By partnering with Ross County public school districts, this program provides extra support for children who have been identified as needing help developing early math, literacy, and social skills.
How It Works
Each Ross County school district receives a United Way grant to host a summer program to support the educational success of district youth.
Targeted Support
Children are identified by their school during either kindergarten enrollment or elementary progress. Classes are taught by certified teachers and aides of the school district. United for Student Success provides flexible funding and collaboration so each district can design the approach that best serves its students.
Comprehensive Approach
Meals and transportation are provided to remove barriers to attendance. Each child receives a minimum of 56 hours of instruction over four weeks of four-day classes. Our shared focus on early learning, academic readiness, and whole‑child support, while ensuring every district has the ability to tailor resources to the needs they see every day in their classrooms.
Measuring Impact
School districts provide a post-program assessment to track progress. We measure impact through both numbers and narratives. Tracking key outcomes while also listening to the stories of students, families, and partners. This combination helps us understand not just how many people we serve, but how their lives are changing.
